The Bearden Bulldogs and West Greene Buffaloes met Saturday afternoon at Grace Christian School to help raise needed money for the medical expenses of injured Kingston sophomore football player Seth Haynes.  Thanks in large part to the CARE-acter Star program, the game was successful in its mission.  Thousands of dollars were raised on Saturday.  Hardin Valley and William Blount met in Game 2 of the doubleheader.

As for the football game, the Bulldogs set the tone early, scoring on their opening 65-yard drive.  Quarterback Xavier Johnson's 64-yard TD run was the key play.  Bearden would make it 14-0 later in the first period as Xavier Johnson teamed up with senior Emad Aqqad on a 6-yard touchdown pass in the corner of the south end zone.

The Buffaloes answered with a tally of their own in the opening quarter on Austin Greenlee's 20-yard strike to Trebor Wilson.  The Dogs led 14-7 after one period.

Bearden increased their advantage to 21-7 by halftime, thanks to a 10-yard touchdown reception by Matthew Marlow (from Xavier Johnson).  John Matthew Lee's third consecutive PAT gave the Bulldogs their 14-point halftime lead.

Sophomore running back Chase Berry capped his 140-yard performance with a 7-yard TD mid-way through period number three.

West Greene responded moments later with a 2-yard touchdown plunge by senior Colton Madison.  The Buffaloes ran a fake PAT to perfection and Jonathan Padgett raced in for the 2-point conversion.

The Dogs carried a 27-15 lead into the final quarter, but weren't through scoring yet.

Senior Tommy Smith made it 33-15 with 8:29 to go on a 6-yard TD run.

Bearden's defense held the Buffaloes scoreless over the final 15 minutes of play to ice the victory.  Both teams played well Saturday and met at midfield following the game in a display of sportsmanship and support for Seth Haynes.  Referees donated their services on Saturday.
